ELIZABETH ONEILL

A willow tunnel welcomes visitors into a maturing shelter belt, beyond which lies the main garden with wide mixed borders. There are closely planted areas in front of the house and gravel gardens behind. A woodland garden leads down to the potager. Plantsmen will linger to find many gems. Whilst welcoming both children and dogs, Llwyngarreg will delight the discerning plantsman with its many rarities including species Primulas, Restios, many bamboos with Roscoeas, Hedychiums and Salvias extending the season through to riotous autumn colour. Hundreds of different trees have been under planted with perennials, with an extensive grass bed in the centre and three springs meeting to form a stream around the main garden. This provides several bog garden opportunities – perfect for colour in May and June. Look out for all the willow structures which children can climb but deep water in places necessitates they be supervised.
