About Conwy Castle (Cadw)

Caer ganoloesol fawreddog yn dal i sefyll uwchben y dref ar ôl 700 mlynedd.

Diolch i’r grisiau tro a adferwyd yn ei dyrau mawr, gallwch gerdded cylch cyflawn o gwmpas bylchfuriau Castell Conwy. Argymhellwn hynny’n fawr. Hon yw un o’r caerau canoloesol mwyaf mawreddog yn Ewrop.

Yn y pellter cwyd mynyddoedd clegyrog Eryri ac oddi tanoch mae harbwr a strydoedd cul Conwy yn ymestyn o’ch blaenau - wedi’u gwarchod o hyd gan 1,400 o lathenni (1.3km) o gylch di-dor o furiau trefol.

Mae’n ddigon i fynd â’ch gwynt. Yn enwedig o ystyried bod Brenin Edward I a’i bensaer James o San Siŵr wedi adeiladu’r castell a’r waliau mewn pedair blynedd anhygoel rhwng 1283 a 1287.
Conwy takes its place alongside Edward’s other great castles at Beaumaris, Harlech and Caernarfon as a World Heritage Site.

This famous fortress is exceptionally well preserved. It contains the most intact set of medieval royal apartments in Wales. The high curtain wall and eight lofty towers rise almost as impressively as when they were built more than 700 years ago.

So don’t be afraid to climb those staircases, if you can, for the full Conwy experience. There isn’t a better place in Britain to stand on the battlements and dream.
